About

Amy McPherson, a Red River Métis artist and designer. Born and raised in Dauphin Manitoba, as a youth she participated in many programs and services through the NWMC. Moving to Winnipeg in 1999 shes spent the last 25+ years learning many different forms of art; including several beading techniques, porcupine quilling, moose and caribou hair tufting, fish scale art, silk floss embroidery, birch bark biting and basketry. In the early 2000’s Amy was introduced to the traditional Métis two needles technique of beadwork through the Louis Riel Institute. Giving back to community is important to her and now a teacher herself she shares her knowledge in person and virtually. Amy is an alumni of MC Colleges Fashion Design and Apparel production program and Banff Centre of Arts Indigenous Haute Couture residency program. Her collections have been seen on several runways.
