Canonical records
One canonical business ID equals one business. Multiple sources, locations, categories, and services do not inflate the total business count.
Identity and verification
GatherNorth does not infer Indigenous identity or ownership. It preserves explicit wording and distinctions from the underlying canonical pipeline while presenting public profiles as normal business pages.
Profile enrichment
When available, profiles publish supplied business descriptions, products and services, contact channels, social profiles, service reach, procurement details, and structured data. Social links are restricted to recognized network hosts and profile or channel paths; generic homepages, share actions, post links, and common website-builder accounts are suppressed.
A supplied Google Business URL is labelled as such. When one is unavailable, the profile may offer a clearly labelled Google Maps search assembled from the business name and public location—it is a discovery shortcut, not a verified Google Business listing.
Business and organization suggestions
Profile pages suggest contextual connections between businesses and organizations using only published fields: city or community, province or territory, sector, organization mandate, stated Indigenous distinction, and specific nation or community references. Each card explains the signals that caused it to appear.
These suggestions are discovery aids, not evidence of affiliation, membership, funding, clients, eligibility, endorsement, or service delivery. GatherNorth does not create a relationship when the available fields cannot support one, and users should confirm any actual relationship directly.
